A collaborative project between three students of the MDes Graphic Design programme at the FHNW HGK Basel, completed during the <Design Practice> module with lecturer Jiri Oplatek.
Working within a set of constraints: using only lines, dots, a photograph of Basel, a photograph of our hometowns, and the typographic elements “New New” and “New, New Basel Style”, the project explores our individual interpretations of what a contemporary Swiss or Basel Style might be today. At the same time, it investigates co-authorship as a collaborative design practice: each participant overprinted their design onto those of the others, creating a shared visual authorship.
The project also remains experimental in both format and process. A total of six A0 posters were produced: three individual posters and three overprinted collaborative posters. Each A0 poster is composed of nine A3 sheets, while every A3 sheet also functions as an independent poster in its own right.
